Huichol Indian Family — Photo of the Week

Scout and I met this Huichol family when we spent a weekend at their village in Nayarit. The Huichole indians are renowned beadwork and yarn artists who inhabit remote micro villages in the Sierras of Nayarit and Jalisco. We were able to access the village because Scout’s Spanish teacher has been doing outreach there for years, donating food and supplies. Immersing in a culture completely different from our own was a tremendous gift and one of our best worldschooling experiences to date.

Read more here about our visit with the Huichol Indians of central Mexico.

Mama has such a sweet smile – and indeed, what a gift you’re giving your daughter – the world is her classroom.
