Where to stay in Morélia, Mexico: Casa Rosa B&B

Rose Calderone, Owner Casa Rosa B&B, Morélia, Michoacán, Mexco

If you’re heading to Morélia and need a place to stay, listen up. Assuming you’re a normal person on a budget and don’t require a $5oo hotel suite, the place you’re looking for is is Casa Rosa in the historic center. We just spent five days there and LOVED every minute of it.

FYI our visit was not a blogger freebie — we paid the advertised rates to stay there, just like everyone else.

Casa Rosa Bed and Breakfast

Casa Rosa is a beautiful colonial home (with high-speed wifi, don’t worry) located two blocks from the main street, Avenida Madero, in the Historic District. It’s a quick walk to everywhere — the 17th-century Cathedral, restaurants, cafes, markets, museums, the Guadalupe Sanctuary, the Tarascas Fountain, the Aqueduct, the Jardin de las Rosas, etc. Not only was it dog-friendly (though no dogs live there), but the viva-la-vida owner, Rose Calderone, is the most gracious and generous hostess imaginable. She treated us like family. Rose introduced us to her artsy pals (photographers, writers, bloggers) and led us all over the city, including an excellent lunch at a friend’s restaurant with a private concert by yet another friend, a fiery Venezuelan jazz singer & guitarist. Rose even offered to spend an entire day with us visiting artists in nearby Pátzcuaro. She’s the best, truly. We felt loved and appreciated during the entire visit, and if we’d stayed anywhere else, our experience in Morélia wouldn’t have been as magical.

So if you’re heading to Morélia, be sure to stay at Casa Rosa, and while you’re there, please give Rose a big hug from the RambleCrunch gang.

Tom, you would love Rose and staying at her place. She’s such a patron of the arts and a real fun person. From her place you can walk EVERYWHERE! Know what you should do? Plan to extend your February trip for an extra few days and head over to Morelia before going home. Think about it.
